Dr C S Lakshmi is a Tamil writer who writes under the pseudonym Ambai. Her translated stories have been published in a collection entitled A Purple Sea. She is also an independent researcher in Women’s Studies for the past thirty years and has several publications to her credit. She is the founder trustee of SPARROW and currently the Director of SPARROW
Dr Charanjeet Kaur
Editor of the Literary Articles and Discussions Section of Muse India since 2011, was its Chief Editor from April 2015 to November 2016. She retired as the I/C Principal and Head of the UG, PG and Research Department of English in 2014 after an academic and administrative career spanning 36 years at Smt Chandibai Himathmal Mansukhani College, Ulhasnagar. She has been an IUC Associate at Indian Institute of Advanced Study, Shimla. Currently, apart from being associated with Muse India, she is Associate Director with SPARROW (Sound & Picture Archives for Research On Women), Mumbai. She has to her credit two volumes of poetry – The Songs From the Hills (2015) and Mirror Image and Other Poems (2009), both published by Writers’ Workshop, Kolkata.
Mr. Jerry Pinto
Jerry Pinto is a journalist and a writer who writes poetry, prose and children’s fiction. His works include, Helen: The Life and Times of an H-Bomb (2006), Surviving Women (2000) and Asylum and Other Poems (2003). His first novel Em and The Big Hoom was published in 2012. He won the Windham-Campbell prize in 2016 for his fiction. He has received the Sahitya Akademi award 2016 for his novel Em and The Big Hoom.
Dr Uma Maheshwari Shankar
Dr Uma Maheswari Shankar did her PG in Arts-Philosophy and has a PhD in Philosophy. She is currently the Principal of SIES College, Mumbai and has been serving in the college for more than 23 years. About her life and work she says: “On a rainy Monday morning 38 years ago, a fresh Arts graduate found a seat for herself amongst five dozen others. The place was like a tree to migrating birds. In time, it became her home and one day, she became the tree. Like in the stories I have read and I teach, today life has come a full wonderful circle where I have been blessed to return the knowledge, understanding and love that I received, in manifold, to the students who occupy the very bench I sat on and to even those beyond the threshold of this institute.” She would like her students to take away with them values like commitment, trust and honesty.
Dr Mala Pandurang
Dr Mala Pandurang is the Principal and Professor at Dr. BMN College (Empowered Autonomous). A passionate researcher, her work is primarily focused on gender studies, postcolonial literature, and diaspora theory. She is a postdoctoral fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (Germany) and served as its Ambassador Scientist to India from 2019 to 2021 and again from 2022 to 2024. Her research has also been supported by several prestigious fellowships, including the Fulbright Visiting Professorship (USA), the Charles Wallace Research Grant (UK), and the Dr. Aroon Tikekar Fellowship from the Asiatic Society of Mumbai. She is committed to addressing gender-related issues, especially those affecting students. Dr. Pandurang has contributed to global research projects such as the Teenagers’ Experiences of COVID-19 (TeC-19) with the University of Southampton (UK) and the South-South Feminisms project with the University of Stellenbosch (South Africa). With a strong publication record, she has authored seven books and published 45 research papers in her areas of expertise. She also serves as the Series Editor for Postcolonial Lives, published by Brill.
Dr Padma Deshmukh
Dr Padma Deshmukh retired as the Head of the Department of Microbiology in 2018 after 37 years of teaching UG, PG and guiding 16 M.Sc (by Research) and 08 PhD students from Smt CHM college, Ulhasnagar. She went on to head Bunts Sangha’s Anna Leela College as the Principal till she took retirement in 2021.
She was also the first woman Controller of Examinations, University of Mumbai from May 2013 to June 2014. During her University tenure, a number of administrative and academic systems were introduced like On Screen Marking, Digital Examination Paper Distribution system (DEPDS). The university also showed a remarkable output of declaring more than 75% of the results within 40 days. She has more than 30 research publications and many more proceedings to her credit.
Mrs. Sujata Tandel
Dr Padma Deshmukh retired as the Head of the Department of Microbiology in 2018 after 37 years of teaching UG, PG and guiding 16 M.Sc (by Research) and 08 PhD students from Smt CHM college, Ulhasnagar. Mrs. Sujata Tandel worked in Bank Of India for 37 years and retired in 2016. She has worked in various capacities in the Bank and retired as Senior Manager. She has done MA in English Literature from Mumbai University. D uring her tenure in the bank, she actively participated in Inter Bank Dramatic competitions. On behalf of Bank Of India, she participated in the prestigious Rajya Natya Spardha and won the best supporting actress prize for the Bank. Apart from Marathi Theatre, she is interested in English Literature, Indian Writing in English Literature and Marathi Literature. She is writer of short stories in Marathi. Her stories get published in Diwali Ank like Shree Deeplakshmi, Akshardhara, Kathaashree. Her Lalitlekh (Articles) get published in Marathi Newspaper Loksatta and Sakaal. She has a manuscript of her short stories, written in Marathi, which will be published soon.
