Every year when December
comes, all of us at SPARROW begin to look for all kinds
of things to cheer us up. This year after the tsunami
tragedy, July floods, bomb blasts, floods in Chennai and
so much of traumatic violence all over the country combined
with various challenges we faced as an organisation, we
wondered what we could find as signs of hope. We had many
stories of resilience and courage to fall back upon but
we wanted something lighter, colourful and creative, expressing
joy. So we went through our rangoli collections and discovered
some interesting ways in which the traditional designs
had incorporated Christmas and New Year. We present them
here for the pleasure of all those who visit the SPARROW
web site.
